Sad, sad day

I heard today that Carol Glancy, who I worked with at the Public Trust Office, has died of cancer at the young age of 39.

Carol was an interesting and amazing person who lived life to the full.  She will be sadly missed by everyone that knew her.

Walking Group - Lloyd Park

Todays walk was around Lloyd Park, Croydon (Lloyd Park tramlink stop).  Not the most exciting of parks and with very little rain is was looking very dry and brown.

Good exercise but it was a bit humid today.

Zumba class

Yesterday I went to a Zumba taster session at SCOLA  - http://www.scola.ac.uk/index.htm.  I went to the class to help decide whether to enrol for the classes in September.   Zumba was fun and exhausting and the teacher was really good and encouraging.   Not sure that the class is for me though I think I need to be a little bit fitter to keep up.

I will probably find another class which is a little less exhausting !

BBQ at Liz and Keith's

Went to a BBQ at Liz and Keith's in Enfield.  It was lovely weather and perfect for eating outside.  The Garden is absolutely beautiful.

They had prepared loads of salads and Keith was a master on the BBQ.   The booze flowed and the Pimms was first class.

It was great to see and catch up with friends and colleages from the MoJ.

Tap Dogs

Rochelle and I went to see Tap Dogs. Adam Garcia and 5 other men tap dancing for 90 minutes it was amazing.

We had great seats - Row C, which meant we were also given a plastic poncho to put on towards the end of the show, to protect us from the water they used in one of their final dances. We needed the ponchos!!!

The dancing is fast and furious and the guys had amazing energy, definitely worth going to see.

Visit to Amesbury

Went down to see Jean and David in Amesbury for a few days. Had a relaxing day sitting in their lovely garden, chatting and catching up with Jean.

The following day we went off to Hillier Gardens (Sir Harold Hillier Gardens) for a walk and a wonder around. Very nice gardens and loads to see. http://www3.hants.gov.uk/hilliergardens.htm

The Gardens are beautiful and there are some interest sculpures around the grounds.

Val and I had a day out in Rye. It was a little chilly but we had a pleasant stroll around looking in all the shops. We stopped off in a pub for fish and chips and later in the afternoon found a tearoom for a cream tea. And I didn't buy anything!

Spinal reflexology course

I went on a spinal reflexology course today at the Central London College of Reflexology. It was a really good but intense day. I hope to use this new sequence on some of my clients. Jane Long was our teacher today, she was excellent and I met some very nice fellow students.

Feel so tired now I think I need an early night.

Lunch at the Three Chimneys

Went to see my friends Pam and Alistair down in Kent today. We went to the Three Chimneys Pub near Biddenham, for a very pleasant lunch. I had pan fried fillet of salmon with vegetables, followed by pear and plum crumble with vanilla ice cream. All washed down with a very large glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Lovely way to spend a Monday.

Started work as a Reflexologist

I started work as a reflexologist working for Merton Carers Support at the end of June. Merton Carers Support is part of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers. http://www.carers.org/

I am providing half hour reflexology treatments for the unpaid carers in the London Borough of Merton. http://www.carerssupportmerton.org.uk/index.htm

This really is worthwhile and carers love the time to chill out and relax.

St Helier Festival

Here I am at the St Helier Festival with the Sutton Complementary Health Network, http://www.schn.org.uk/ promoting the Network and providing some free, but short, reflexology treatments to visitors to the Festival.

Walking Group - Morden Hall Park

I joined the muddy walks walking group, http://www.muddywalks.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ and in June we did some walks through Morden Hall Park.

The tramlink is used to get to different parks and In July the walks are in Lloyd Park, Croydon.

Leonardslee Gardens

Rob and I had a lovely day out, In May to Leonardslee Gardens, the bluebells were very pretty. The Gardens are open for 3 months of the year and well worth a visit.
There are also some vintage cars and some amazing dolls houses to see.

Hot Air Balloon ride

We had several cancelled attempts in 2009 but in May this year our hot air balloon ride eventually took off from Fernhurst and we landed somewhere near Petersfield on a beautiful sunny day.

And here we are all safe and sound - Sandra, Kam, Rochelle and me.
