Animals in War Memorial

On Wednesday I went up to London to meet my friend, Nadine, for lunch and decided to go up earlier to take a few photographs.  I took a bus to Park Lane to take photos of the Animals in War monument.  This monument stands in the centre of Park Lane and it is something I have often passed on the bus.   The monument is a wall with mules on one side of it and a horse and dog on the other.

The wording on the memorial reads:-

Many and various animals were employed to support British and Allied Forces in Wars and Campaigns over the centuries as a result millions died - Pigeon to the Elephant they all played a vital role in every region of the world in the cause of human freedom – their contribution must never be forgotten.

This monument was unveiled on 24 November 2004 by HRH Princess Royal KG KT Matron – The Animals in War Memorial Fund.
