C&G Photography - Level 1

This week I finished my City and Guilds Photography - Level 1 course and handed in my work.   I produced a book of my photos, the first part of the book contains Image Capture, seven photographs on the theme Trains and Railways.  Here is one of my images
I have uploaded the remainder onto flickr.

The second part of the book are digitally manipulated images of Battersea Power Station.  I manipulated the image in to a colouring book, silhouette, vintage and then added all the images to a cork board.
You can see the other images and the original photos on flickr.

Wallington Camera Club

The Photocraft Camera Club meets at St Elphages Church Hall, Stafford Road, Wallington, SM6 9AY on Wednesdays at 8.00pm from September to June.  It is a really friendly club and it is a good place to learn new things, enter competitions and in 2013 we are hoping to put together a calendar.

I have only been a member for a year but I did win the level 1 - Monochrome Print Competition so my name appears on the shield and I was also runner-up in the Projected Image Competition.

It's my birthday

Today is my birthday and I have received loads of lovely cards from of my friends and relatives.   My friend Rochelle bought me some beautiful flowers, a very pretty decorative bird cage which will get pride of place in my kitchen and a very useful Bento box for my days out.  I am a very lucky girl.
I also received a basket which included wine, chocolates and a rose from my brother and sister in law, Steve and Pauline.

Bekonscot Model Village

Last Friday Val and I took a day out to the Bekonscot Model Village.    I think I may have visited this model village when I was very young and I have wanted to go and see this model village again.    We took the train from Marylebone to Beaconsfield and followed the signs to Bekonscot, just a short walk from the station.
Well the model village did not disappoint, it was fabulous and I have added my photographs to flickr.

After our walk around the village we went off to have a walk around Beaconsfield to check out all the shops and have a great lunch.

Queens Diamond Jubilee Weekend

This weekend is the Queens Diamond Jubliee Weekend.   The Queen started the weekend by going to the Derby at Epsom on Saturday.   On Sunday there was a river pageant with 1,000 boats and ships going up the River Thames.  The weather unfortunately was cold, wet and windy, so I decided that I would not go into London but watched the whole thing on my warm cosy sofa.    I did take a few photos from the TV - cheating but I don't care.

The Queen, Prince Philip and other members of the royal family were on a specially commissioned Royal Barge - The Spirit of Chartwell.
As the royal barge passed the Royal Festival Hall there was a brief appearance of the War Horse which delighted the royals.
The Queen, who stood the whole time of the pageant, looked like she enjoyed it all.
Monday night there was an amazing concert outside Buckingham Palace.  Tuesday there was a service at St Pauls Cathedral followed by an appearance by the Queen and the royal family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace.

Verona

While Rochelle and I were staying in Desanzano we took a bus to Verona.   The journey took about an hour but it was the opportunity to see some of the countryside.  We didn't quite find the correct place to get off the bus but we eventually found the Arena.  As you can see  Verona was fairly busy with tourists.
We made our way to Juliet's house and again it was packed with tourists but we made our way through the archway into the courtyard where there is a statue of Juliet and of course the balcony.

There was also a wall of Love Locks in the courtyard.
The view from Juliet's house was beautiful and away from the crowds Verona is very pretty.
