Thank you for visiting my blog I hope you enjoyed it and will return to see what I have been doing. Or you could always join and be one of my followers.

I have grown a tomato

In February I planted seeds on my kitchen windowsill to grow some herbs, chillies and tomatoes, they all started to grow but I was not convinced the tomatoes would produce any fruit.  I am delighted to say I have one tomato and I may get a couple more.
It may be small but perfectly formed!

Olympic Torch Relay along the River

Today is the last day of the Olympic Torch Relay and it travelled from Hampton Court to Tower Bridge on the Gloriana boat that was used in the Royal Pageant.   The Olympic flame will go the the Olympic Stadium later today and the Opening Ceremony for the London 2012 Olympic Games will begin.

I wanted to see the Gloriana but didn't really want to go in central London so I took a trip to Putney Bridge and got a great place along the river to see the boat and the torch.

Olympic Torch Relay

The Olympic Torch Relay started in the UK on 19 May and it passed locally to where I live on 23 July but unfortunately I missed it.   But today I went up into London and managed to see it going over the Millennium Bridge carried by Ade Adepitan.  It was then passed to Ify Egesi who took the torch into the Globe Theatre.

As you can see below it is a nightmare trying to get photographs through the crowd.
I also managed to get some photos of the Olympic Mascots; Wenlock and Mandeville.

Weekend in Spain

Had a lovely weekend in Spain to visit my lovely nieces.   It was sunny and warm all weekend and I had a relaxing time.   We took a trip to O Grove to see Laura where she is now working, also went to Cedeira and my usual trip to Al Campo in Ferrol.

The Bomber Command War Memorial was unveiled by the Queen on 28 June this year.  The Memorial is located in Green Park near to Hyde Park Corner.   It is quite magnificent memorial.

Windsor Castle

On Friday I met up with my school friends Kate and Sally and we visited Windsor Castle.  It was a very wet day so we were pleased to be inside for most of the visit.   The Castle is an amazing place and there is a great deal to take in.   Our ticket allows us to revisit within the next 12 months  which is a great idea so I am looking forward to doing just that.

Brompton Cemetery

Last Sunday I went to the Brompton Cemetery as it was their open day.   The cemetery is near to West Brompton underground station so quite easy to get to.   There were lots of visitors, despite the showers, and there were organised tours of the cemetery and the catacombs which I didn't take on this occasion but might have to next time.

I had a stroll around and found the graves of Emmeline Pankhurst and John Wisden

As this was an open day there were also some birds of prey and also an old car taking visitors for a drive.

I will have to look out for the next open day on the Friends of Brompton Cemetery website

And I have added more photographs to my flickr photostream
