Tour of Australia (Part 2 - Alice Springs and Ayers Rock)

On Day 6 of our tour we flew from Perth to Alice Springs.  On arrival we took a mini bus out to the bush and we were shown how to throw a boomarang.   We then had a BBQ and were shown how to make damper with syrup all washed down with wine, beer or water.

The following morning we visited the Telegraph Office, the School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctors museum.

We also saw the war memorial where we had a great view over Alice Springs.

Later in the day we came to Simpsons Gap, this was gap where the telegraph was able to pass through.
The next day we left Alice Springs for Ayers Rock.  We first saw the Olgas.

In the evening we had the Sound of Silence dinner which was amazing.  .We had local dancers
Saw the sun setting and enjoyed a great meal of Soup, Lamb, Kangaroo and a selection of desserts

The next morning we were up really early to witness the Ayers Rock at sunrise, which is quite spectacular.
More photos of the tour are on flickr.

Lambeth Palace Gardens

Last week, on a nice dry warm day, I went with a friend to visit the gardens at Lambeth Palace as part of the National Open Garden scheme.

The gardens were just lovely.
